Work Exchange (WEX) Info for 2012

There are no specific WEX positions available for the 1-day workshop with Karen Nelson this year. (We will need assistance during the Jam, but not the workshop.)

There are a limited number of Work Exchange (WEX) spots available for the Moab Jam. WEX is for those with financial need, who might not be able to otherwise afford to come to the event. This allows dancers to participate in the event(s) for a reduced fee while simultaneously contributing to get necessary work done associated to make the Moab Jam happen smoothly and joyfully. We need you!

  • Each WEX-hour is worth $10 and will be credited to the amount owed for the jam based on the underemployed/student rate.
  • By signing up for WEX your rate for the Jam (or Workshop) can be reduced, depending on the amount of work available.
  • Only hours that are actually worked will be credited towards money owed for the event.
  • All WEX participants register online and pay the deposit for the Workshop or Jam. WEX positions are offered on a first-come basis.
  • The number of WEX positions for the Jam depends upon how many WEX volunteers there are, and how many hours of work each WEX person puts in.
  • Balance due will be settled at the conclusion of the Jam.

Gretchen coordinates the WEX team. When you register, there will be a "wants WEX" box to mark with your registration. Positions are "awarded" on a first-come basis. Gretchen will email those who have requested a WEX position (again, there is a limited amount) after registration. Feel free to contact her if you have any questions or need any WEX information prior to registration:

Work-exchange during the Jam: WEX participants are needed for the following tasks: (TBD at the jam)

  • Registration
  • Signs & assorted admin work
  • Sweep/mop & pickup studios
  • Make sure kitchen is clean and tidy
  • Recycling
  • Workshop group dinner, Sat Jam group dinner - plan, shop, prep, cook, setup, cleanup
  • Snacks - shop, prep, cook, setup, cleanup
  • Post-Jam cleanup
  • Childcare
  • Miscellaneous other jobs

This agreement requires motivation and responsibility. Please track your hours, and ask the WEX coordinator for any clarification and for jobs that may need to be done. WEX meetings with the coordinator will be posted.

It's fun to be of service toward making the jam a great event for all!
