| Moab Jam - 2010 |
| |
|
Welcome to the Moab Jam. The jam is a place to bring “the soft animal of your body”, your wonder, your questions, your heart.
Sweat, take risks, be safe, have excellent dances, engage in deep conversation, create, investigate, and be inspired by the beauty of the desert. We look forward to sharing
the dance with you.

| Description: |
Welcome to the 14th Annual Moab Jam in Moab, Utah!
This year we are thrilled to be joined by Chris Aiken and Angie Hauser, as well as other experienced teachers as jam "hosts" (Alicia Grayson, Brad Stoller, Steve Homsher, and others TBD). Chris and Angie will offer a class, discussion, and add their rich presence to the jam. Other Jam hosts will lead warm-ups, facilitate mixers, and offer one-to-one sessions.
The Moab Jam is well known for rich dancing, creative friends, beautiful surroundings and bountiful opportunities to explore both on and off the dance floor. Our goal, as always, is to create a warm, safe and supportive environment where you are part of creating and then enjoying the Jam that you want.
Read the Experience Level below to get a better idea of what the Moab Jam offers dance-wise. Explore the Photo/Video pages to see pictures and video of the incredibly beautiful places that are in and around Moab, Utah that are waiting for you to explore. Such as...
- majestic snow-capped mountains and red-rock vistas to view
- canyons with clear cool streams and waterfalls to play in
- trails next to streams under shady cottonwood trees to walk along
- giant red rocks (as far as you can see) with hidden alcoves to explore
- clear starry nights lit by a campfire with plenty of snuggly friends to share
The Jam has filled the last couple of years, so be ready for registration when it opens if you'd like to attend.

Experience
Level |
All levels of dance experience are welcome to attend.
New to CI? Meet with a jam host for a one-on-one dance or a small group beginners' class. You're welcome to either watch or participate according to
your own comfort level. This jam is very beginner-friendly and our jam hosts will welcome you. Over the years we have had lots of people in Moab for their first ever CI experience,
and they keep coming back.
Beginner/Intermediate dancer? Our jam hosts will offer classes, lead warmups, mixers and classes to get you going. You are encouraged to talk with the jam
hosts and ask for feedback/coaching, if you desire. There is plenty of jam time to explore using what you're learning and just have fun.
Advanced dancer? You can't beat the Moab Jam for variety, yet plenty of jam time, plus some great classes from top-notch instructors.
You're welcome to volunteer to lead a warmup or teach a class. Or, indulge and jam as much as your heart desires. We always strive to have
a jam space available. |

5:30pm Sunset Dance Adventure => We’ll go to venture to a special location in Arches National Park (or somewhere else this year) to delight in the beauty of the afternoon light and amazing desert sunset. We’ll post the exact details of the adventure on the wall of the MARC. It’s truly breathtaking. …then we will return for evening jamming!

| Where |
DANCING: The Workshop will be held indoors at the Moab Arts and Recreation Center (MARC)(show
me on a map), a beautifully renovated church with nice hardwood floors, high ceilings and tall windows that let in the bright desert sunshine.
CAMPING: The Workshop participants are all invited to stay together and car camp at either Up the Creek Campground (in downtown Moab,
4 blocks from the MARC) or Ken’s Lake (20 minute drive from the MARC.) It's OK if you don't have a car because we'll car-pool as much as we can. A bike is handy if you stay
at Up the Creek Campground. Bikes can be rented in Moab.
Campsite fees are NOT included in the Workshop price. See the Logistics page
for campsite costs, location, and how to make reservations.
IMPORTANT: Up the Creek Campground sells out months in advance around Memorial Day weekend. Ken's Lake Campground fills up on the weekends
and around Memorial Day weekend. For both campgrounds, Workshop and Jam participants are highly encouraged
to share campground sites with other dancers. Work-study will help coordinate where everyone is staying.
HOTELS, MOTELS, HOSTELS, BED & BREAKFASTS, CONDOS: If you'd rather not camp, there are other accommodations within just a few
blocks of the MARC in Moab. See the Logistics page for LOTS of information.

|
| Food |
Dinner will be provided on Saturday, plus
we'll have work-study prepare and procure snacks for everyone in the Jam. Bring your own breakfasts, lunches, dinners (except Saturday) and camping gear. There is a
very nice, reasonably priced organic grocery store just one block away from the MARC and lots of sandwich and lunch spots just a few blocks away. The group
will have access to a full kitchen to prepare our meals and a refrigerator to
store our food. |

- Register online for the Jam (and Workshop), including online payment of a $50 deposit for the Jam (see NOTE below).
- The Jam registration is first-come basis after online registration opens. We will register the first 65 people who sign up and pay online. After the first 65 spaces are full, we will take 15 more deposits—which will fill our “wait list.” After the wait list is full, online registration will close.
- You are NOT fully registered until you have registered online AND we have received your deposit or payment in full.
- We will let you know as soon as we can by email whether you are IN or on the "wait list."
- If you are one of the first 65 to register for the Jam and pay your deposit, your Jam deposit amount is non-refundable.
- If you are on the “wait list”, you can request your full payment refunded at any time, which will remove you from the “wait list.”
- If you are on the "wait list" for the Jam and a space becomes available, we will notify you by email and/or phone and you will have 72 hours to let us know whether or not you wish to come. If you choose not to attend, you will receive your deposit back. If we don’t hear back from you within 72 hours, we will give the space to the next person on the “wait list.”
CANCELLATIONS: For those who pay in full and are accepted into the Jam and cancel before the event, all of your money,
less the deposit amount ($50) will be returned. All deposits are non-refundable unless you are on the wait-list (see above).
